noted the following in the \ue0c4nale of his 1999 work
\n \u201cJust Six\n <\/div>\n
Numbers\u201d:***<\/div>\n
\u201cBut it remains a fundamental challenge to<\/div>\n
understand the very beginning \u2013 this must await a\n <\/div>\n
\u2018\ue0c4nal\u2019 theory\u2026. Such a theory would signal the end\n <\/div>\n
of an intellectual quest that started with Newton,\n <\/div>\n
and continued through Maxwell, Einstein and their\n <\/div>\n
successors. It would deepen our understanding of\n <\/div>\n
space, time, and the basic forces\u2026.<\/div>\n
This goal may be unattainable. There could be no\n <\/div>\n
\u2018\ue0c4nal\u2019 theory; or<\/span>, if
\n there is, it could be beyond our\n <\/div>\n
mental powers to grasp it. But even if this goal
\n is\n <\/div>\n
reached, that would not be the end of challenging\n <\/div>\n
science. As well as being a \u2018fundamental\u2019<\/div>\n
science, cosmology is also the grandest of the<\/div>\n
environmental sciences. It aims to understand<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

THE TRANSCENDENT DYNAMIC<\/div>\n
how a simple \u2018\ue0c4reball\u2019 evolved into the complex\n <\/div>\n
cosmic habitat we \ue0c4nd around us \u2013 how<\/span>, here on\n <\/div>\n
Earth, and perhaps in many biospheres elsewher<\/span>e,\n <\/div>\n
creatur<\/span>es evolved that are
\n able to re\ue0c5ect on how\n <\/div>\n
